Jen Singh's piece shown below, Tumbling for you, made it to the Featured Wall at Six by Six Gallery for the October Showcase. We were curious about the piece and asked Jen to tell us more. Read on!
CW: What was the process behind this piece?
JEN: A friend of mine picked up this retro orange kid's chair for my daughter a few years ago and it has been a favorite of mine ever since! I've always wanted to do a painting of the chair so I photographed it first for reference. But then I brought it in to Photoshop, I really loved how the orange translated from the scan, so I decided to do an ink transfer of the chair on canvas and create a funky collage piece.
CW: What is your favorite medium to work in?
JEN: watercolor
CW: Are you a full time artist?
JEN: Yes, I'm an illustrator and graphic designer.
CW: Do you have a favorite museum?
JEN: Many, but I really love sculpture gardens, like Rodin's garden in Paris and the special exhibits at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
CW: Do you have any other projects or shows coming up?JEN: Currently, I'm exhibiting at Decatur Market and Cooperative Gallery in Decatur, GA, showing at Chastain Park Arts Festival Oct. 17-18.
CW: Where else can we find your work?
